As reported earlier this week, The BBC iPlayer is now available to download for free via the app store on the iPad and we have been trying it out to see if it is worth downloading considering iPlayer is already available on the iPad via safari.

The first thing we noticed about the new app is how easy it is to use, the interface is well presented making it easy for users to find all their favourite tv programmes and radio shows. The app also allows users to watch selected programmes live and we found that buffering was extremely quick and the picture quality was crystal clear.

Unfortunately, one feature missing from the new iPlayer app, is the ability to download programmes and watch them offline although we predict that the BBC will add this feature in a future update.

Here at the spot, we'll be keeping you up to date with any new and exciting apps as they become available and with the new iOS rumoured to be available from next week, no doubt there will be plenty of them coming out within the next few months.
