According to the twitter account of BBC online engineer Geoff Marshall, the BBC is set to release their long awaited iPlayer app this thursday (10th Feb 2011).

Geoff tweeted that users will be able to browse the app over 3G but will need a Wi-Fi connection for video playback and the app will only be available in the UK for the time being, however a US version is scheduled for a June release.

He also tweeted that the iPlayer app will likely be for iPad users only.
