Apple looking to ‘terminate’ the competition with ‘liquid metal’ iPhone casing.

Date Added 20/04/2012

Remember Terminator 2: Judgement Day? Remember the T-1000?

For all those unfamiliar with James Cameron’s 1991 Sci-fi epic, the T-1000 is a robotic assassin sent from the future to stop the human race from preventing the end of civilization.

What does this have to do with Apple you may ask? Well it turns out that Apple are looking to improve the casing of the iPhone by using ‘liquid metal’, the same material used to create the T-1000.

Fortunately for the human race, this is where the similarities between the T-1000 and iPhone end.

Expected to be released later this year, rumours have been circling round the Internet that Apple has signed an exclusive $11 Million deal with Liquidmetal Technologies Ltd to manufacture the new cases.

The material being used has actually been around since the 1990s. However, a new breakthrough in ‘super speed pulse mould technology’ means that it can now be used to manufacture the phone casings, which are expected to be around 20 times stronger than the current casing used for the iPhone 4 and 4S.

As always, Apple refused to comment on the latest rumours.

Here at the spot, we shall keep you informed with all latest details surrounding the new iPhone if and when they happen.
